Hey me and my friends just started a band a little while ago and we just played our first show and we are now serious about getting a good set list seems people are wanting us to play at some shows. The set list we used at out first show was

Neil Young- Keep on rocking in the free would( our own improvised solos)
BTO- Let it ride
Gun's N' Rose's- Knocking on heavens door(live version)
Eric Clapton- Cocaine.

we're thinking about learning
Pink Floyd-Money
The Beatles- Come Together
Pink Floyd -Time
Jimi Hendrix- Purple Haze
Kansas-Carry On My Wayward Son
Aerosmith-Sweet Emotion
Led Zeppelin- Black Dog & dased and confused
The Knack- My sharona
Bon Jovie-You give love a bad name

And we alose have 4 or 5 originals. What do you think of this set? Do you have any suggestions for what order or other songs that should be added? Thanks.

my 2 cents

keep Rockin in the Free World, add Purple Haze & Money, then learn a Rush song, a Ramones song, Heartbreaker, and Sweet Child O' Mine

this order

Purple Haze
[Ramones]
Rockin' in the Free World
[original]
[Rush]
[original]
[original]
Heartbreaker
Money
Sweet Child O' Mine

well, that was more than 2 cents, but whatever

Try throwing an old blues standard in the set list. (It pisses me off that most "classic rock" bands don't understand what thier music is based on.)

yeah the new original song I'm working on right now is really bluesy and our bass player wanted us to learn johnny be good but we were just holding off to see weather our singer could sing it while playing guitar.

In that case Johnny B. Goode shouldn't be a problem, (but you do realize that it isn't blues.)

^Early Rock and Roll/Rockabilly was basically fast blues.

Edit: I'm probably over-simplifying.

If you want to cover Comfortably numb, you better be damn sure it's a good cover and tight as **** Anyways, I like your setlist but I would go with only one Pink floyd song and throw in some good GnR

Purple Haze

Sweet Child O' Mine

well, that was more than 2 cents, but whatever

That's a good list, but I think that Rockin' in the Free World might be better at the end of the set. You could put it right after Sweet Child O' Mine and if you want to, switch the Ramones song with one of your originals so the originals are more spread out in the set. Just my opinion, of course.
