this problem has occurred for a while now but when i cross pick or alternative pick i do it in an angle. is this normal just a habit? should i address this problem or is there nothing to worry about?

You have nothing to worry about, it all depends on our habit on how you first started picking , besides as long as your doing it ok and it feels comfortable then there really is NO SET way to pick besides look at EVH and Marty Friedman He has his whole hand upward.. ****ing weird way to pick but hes a great GUitar player same with EVH

you mean you start picking at the middle of the 6th string and when you move to a higher string you pick closer to the bridge? i dont see a problem in that. i think its natural.

i think paul gilbert picks at an angle. i think it prevents him from getting caught up in between the strings and getting slowed down
