yh, basicly what do you guys think of the digitec whammy pedal. What all can it do cos i have a les paul and i dont want to route out a **** load of wood for a tremelo. Is this ther next best thing can it also be used to do those dimebag squeals.

It's not really like a tremolo, but you can do some pretty crazy effects with it. Dimebag used one on "Becoming", and Tom Morello uses one all the time. You can harmonise your licks, you can shift them up and down by 2 octaves, you can sound out of tune, or like a 12 string guitar.

It's not really specifically for that kinda thing but it can do cool dive bombs and drop tune tremolo type stuff, just takes lots of practice to get it perfect and its pretty accurate. Plus it has harmonisers, detune for a 1 string/chorus effect and octave up/octave down stuff for crazy far-out **** like i do.

Yeah, there are 4 models but i have no idea which is the best.

I think the whammy 1 is nearly completly analogue.

^Still digital, It's currently impossible to do any analogue octaving without fuzzing up the signal.

My WH-1 has the best tracking of the bunch, IMO, but the WH-4 is still decent. The WH-2, I think, has auto wah and wah as well.

for what it's worth, there are Tremolo systems that don't require routing

mainly the les trem

and the Bigsby

they wont be able to do really insane whammy tricks, but they work just fine for light use.

done.

There are a bunch of you tube videos of bassists with bass whammies.

Notable musicians who have used the Bass Whammy include:

* Justin Chancellor of Tool[citation needed] (can be heard on "Schism", "Right in Two", "Eulogy", "Vicarious", "Lateralus" and "Disposition")
* Brian Gibson of Lightning Bolt[citation needed]
* Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam[citation needed]
* Stu Hamm[citation needed]
* Victor Wooten of The Flecktones[citation needed]
* Reed Mathis of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey[citation needed]
