Please help me... I'm not very fast on sweep picking (I do know that it's not all that matters but anyways) and I think it's because of my technique...

Which of these ways is the best (correct) way to pick this sweep-picked arppegio??

Way 1

B|--------------12----------12----------------|
G|-----------11----------------11-------------|

---EDIT---

Indeed... D=Down, U=UP, H=HammerOn and P=PullOff

Also, please explain in a post why you voted for that option on the poll... don't simply vote and close the thread... it wouldn't help me much!

And if you chose "an other way", please tell me what way to go!

^ Well I want all the notes to be equally long... for a nice clean sweep!

Picking helps me with my timing but hammers-on can do the job too... it just doesn't seem to go faster because I've gotta slow down my hammers-on to be as long as my picked notes

I do way number two...

But here's the thing; when I sweep, I spend an equal amount of time on each string, not each note. I'm not sure of what proper technique is in the left hand, but I spend an equal amount of time on a string, rather than a note. If you want to make each note last an equal amount of time, I think it might be better to just expand on the number of strings being used for the sweeps.

But, I'm by no means an expert on this sort of thing, so I'd wait for someone to come in and correct me if I were you

I like the sound of it all being picked so I pick it the same way an economy picker would, starting with a down. I know economy picking and sweeping are different, i mean in the same directions.

Way 2 with a pull off on the last note.

Its really a sound thing, if you want that kind of sound, do it, the "right" way to do it is each note the same length, NOT STRING. Being able to do both would be good though.

it took you 15 consecutive hours of practice to realize that playing guitar makes you better at playing guitar. congratulations.

^ Kk... well for both comfort and sound, I prefer picking all the notes... so I guess that way1 is the best for me heh?? o_O

Or would way2 help me improve better?? I think it's just a matter of preference but I'm not sure I understood it correctly....

Thanks!
