hello

i'm lookin to get a rancid type tone(1993 self titled or lets go)..

also i listen to a ton of the templars and i wanna get their horns of hattin guitar sound cuz its the ****..

anyway i play a epi les paul standard thru a vox vt 50 if this helps any.


any suggestions would be appreciated.

no **** i sorta know..

but ive only been playin guitar for a few months and am still learning a lot.

i cant really listen to music on my stereo and connect what i hear in terms of guitar to settings,pickups and the such

and besides no ones really heard of the templars exept maybe in this forum so thats y i asked

I would say gain on 7, bass on 7, mids on 4, treble on 7. That should be pretty close. I'm not familiar with the models on that Vox, so I guess you'll just have to look through them at those settings and see which one sounds best.

god damn....how much can you brag, to write your whole equipment into your sig....damn, what kind of cables do you use?

Rancid use Marshall JCM900s, so maybe try the 'British' setting on your amp? Then crank the mids and treble.

edit: That's only Lars, Tim uses Mesa Dual Recs, but his tone is crap, Lars is the one you want to go for, at least that's how I feel. If you want Tim's, go for the Rectifier setting on your amp and do the same thing with mids and treble.
