so then, do u play because u enjoy it, ur mates play, or be adored by millions of fans. its just i was talking to a guy the other day and he was talking about how he wanted to be famous and when i asked if he liked playing he told me he didn't really, but he didn't dislike it enough to stop. seemed stupid to me, but im wondering where you all are on this.

its something to do in my utterly pointless life, and as i waste away slowly and painfully, i will know that i have done something useful.

I first started because I saw this guy with a guitar and lots of people surrounded him and showered him with attention. I was like, "I want to do that." So I set out to learn to play, but everytime I learned something new, there was this really satisfying feeling that I could actually play a song or something. It's a great hobby of mine now.

Play until she breaks up with you.

The most brutal band to ever exist is...

You should go like them...even if you don't like them.

I play guitar because I heard that chicks love guitarists.

Naa, I first started because my mum remarried and my stepdad was a guitarist with a spare acoustic guitar. The rest is history

originally it was just to do something different, i come from a pretty sports orientated family but my younger brother had a natural gift playing soccer so when he started playing rep league soccer i realized it would cost a pissload of money for him to go around ontario and stuff, i realized my parkleague hockey and soccer careers were shot, so enter guitar just so i could do something that would be mine and mine alone

now my youngest brother plays...so i guess it was all for naught lol

edit: turns out i just had a lot of fun playing it, besides its an awesome skill to have, nothing like amming out a few tunes when you got some friends over with a few drinks

Nothing even compares to just sitting around making music. Music is my life, and I enjoy making music as much as I enjoy listening to music, if not more. I can't explain the feeling I get when I learn a new song, make up my own song, or even when you write your own lyrics. I just love sitting there, making music. There is nothing that even comes close to that feeling.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

lets see, i was up on drums for about 9 years when i got board playing by myself and my cousins moved away so he could not jam with his guitar anymore.

at that point i made it a goal to learn guitar so I could make songs all by myself and its going great.

playing music and recording it is fun so thats what I picked.

I had a guitar lying around the house, picked it up and started to learn things and it all went from there.

Some doe feel the need to challenge themselves physically and spiritually to break away from the trend of grazing, so some doe play guitar. However, it is very difficult for a creature such as this to hold, yet alone play, a guitar.

Fig. 1:

Their hooves are fairly well shaped for strumming, however they aren't so good at the sweeps.

Fig. 2:

Note how the doe's hind legs bend the opposite way to the way its head is facing. This means that it is slightly easier for them to adopt a hippie-sitting position (as shown in Figure 2.5)

Fig. 2.5

Now, as we all know, hippies cannot play guitar in any kind of controlled or tuneful manner, so as the doe's natural position is a hippie-sitting position, it is a massive challenge for them to achieve a normal position for guitar playing.

A very select few doe have made it this far. Some of the most famous examples include:

Doe Gilmour

Dimebag Doe Abbot

and the legendary Doe Satriani.

I hope I have helped you understand why noble doe learn to play the guitar.

No seriously, if it applies to bass too, i wanted to pick up another skill and have a hobby that I could keep for the rest of my life.

Well, until my wrist locks up.

My guitar is where all of my anger, frustration, fear, doubt, angst, hatred, anxiety and other negatives in my life go. It converts them all into joyful noise. If I didn't play my head would explode.

I picked up a guitar at someones house and thought i was pretty cool playing my rythms.. I keep playing because i am fascinated by music. How do people get these ideas.. I play because i love it, because it's better than homework, MUCH more exciting than television and something that challenges and stimulates my brain

I play for me, I play because I love music.

I play guitar because it's one of the easiest instruments to write songs with, and it's one of the best sounding. I play bass because of similar reasons.

if I could I'd learn alot more instruments, to benefit music. but this is enough for now.

most of the reasons up there... but mainly because i always loved listening to music, so one day i thought i could try making/covering some myself and now i really enjoy doing that.
