im thinking bout buying a recording device that plugs into the computer for my guitar

is there a cheap one thats good? thanks

If you're going to record on a Machintosh, then a M-Box 2 mini

It's not software, it's like an external soundcard with extra I/O. And I'd recommend the M-audio fasttrack USB.
