Here's the deal:
Learn every red hot chili peppers song from Stadium Arcadium and then By the way then californication, working backwards through there albums until you reach mother's milk. perfect for starters, as i was back in the day... six months ago

But seriously once you've got the hang of the bass and your technique, learn rhcp and don't stop

lots of Classic Rock/Metal has awesome basslines.

The Who, Iron Maiden, old Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Led Zepplin, and The Clash all had great lines, especially London Calling and Guns of Brixton from The Clash.
