Ok, my computer is a piece of ****.

Ok, so i turned my computer on with the case open.

Is the GPU's fan supposed to be spinning as soon as the computer is turned on?

this happened to me. found out that one of the screws holding the fan on was missing, and so the fan couldn't move because it being obstructed by the now wonky metal bit. had to replace the whole thing, but if you've got a warranty it should be replaced without a fee.

Technically, initializing video is the 4th step of the POST process so if there is a short or open on the motherboard, the fan may never spin. Do you have video when you tun on the computer?

yea, but theres so much dust in my comp that the fan doesnt move freely im guessing.....now i cant play CSS or any 3D accelerated game without my card going ape**** on me iin like 10 minutes of frying...

u solved your own problem. you need to clean that. turn off the computer take it out and clean that sucker off. just use a tissue or something. or a vacuum to get the dust off works really nicely.

dont take the card apart. that voids the warranty. just slide it out of the PCI-e slot on the motherboard. if you already took it apart good luck.
