I like the coronets. Ive only seen 1 vintage one face to face, but it belonged to some grumpy bluegrass player and had a sign on it that said "Hands off!",..

I love Epiphones. More than Gibsons!!

Mainly because I like their originial models, such as their hollowbodies, notably the Sheraton, Casino and Riviera. I also think they provide high-quality Gibson-styled guitars on a budget.

why epi when there is gibson?

Because not everyone has the kind of scratch to spend on them? Sounds about right.

If you can afford a Gibson, its the obvious choice over an Epiphone.

But its not like Epiphones make horrendous guitars. They have a few lemons, but so do most companies. Get a decent one, set it up how you like it and you have a damn nice guitar.

Epiphone is less expensive while still making decent guitars. Not everyone makes enough money to go out and buy a $2000 Les Paul.

@ Nick11Link : I see that you have an epi special 2, and I was wondering if it is any good. I have been thinking about getting one, but I have been hearing both good and bad things about it.

im not a fan, they use gibson designs to lure younger players, what they dont tell you is epiphones arent solid mahogany, the bodies are a mahogany/alder mesh which sounds bright compared to a gibson lp, their wiring is ****, hands down the only company with worse wiring is BC Rich, pots and switches never have much wear time either, so yes your saving about $1500 but your not getting a great guitar, elitist and most of the original epi models are good guitars, but if it was a gibson model, you be better to save up for a gibson or get a japanese or lawsuit era copy

Why gibson when there's jack and danny?

Here's soundclips from both J&D and gibson http://koti.mbnet.fi/pigeon/jdtest/mp3/

Gibson might be slightly better, at least on distortion, but J&D LS5 models cost only 320€, while gibson about 1000-2000€ on most cases? I actually got my jack and danny ls5 today. So happy with it

Here's also pics from both gibson and Ls5 http://koti.mbnet.fi/pigeon/jdtest/jpg_isot/

The test is not done by me, neither are the pics mine but I felt like posting it here.
