Well I've been playing since my birthday last September, and I'm looking for a new guitar. My current one (Ibanez GRX 40) has had a pickup replaced and a new neck fashioned, due to a neck warp right out of the box.

BTW: My Current Amp is a Roland Cube 60

Aside from that it's functioned pretty well and served its purpose. However I want a guitar that is a little more suited to the music i like to play, i.e. (Thrash, Heavy metal, bit of Death) and doesn't look like a 50's strat

I intend to get this guitar in about 6 months (sometime after Xmas) but want to get an idea of what's out there. I really have no preference to any guitar company or certain make.
As far as cost goes anything under about 2k Canadian.

A good guitar in this case would be an ESP ec with emgs or an ex with emgs. those are perfect for metal. Schecters are good for metal as well, especially the Damien series and the Tempest series. If u want a truly awesome guitar, id get an ESP Dan Jacobs series. Lokk at it, and ull agree its awesome.

Whatever you do, don't spend more than $1,000 USD on a stock model. Customs blow them away and for the amount you are willing to spend you can definitely consider one.

Carvins are great, but some of them would probably be outta of his price range.
Guitar: G&L Tribute S-500
Amp: Fender Blues Deluxe
Pedals: Zvex Box of Rock

IMO, if you have 2k to spend you should split that between a new guitar and new amp to get an awesome setup. There's not much point in playing a 2k guitar through a $200 amp.

nothing is better for thrash than a dean ML. don't get the sh** standard ml, those suck, get one from the dime series....you get dimebucker pickups, a floyd rose trem and an awesome looking guitar.

this one is awesome and it'll cost you about a grand, there are cheaper ones that are just as cool

Don't listen to him. This guitar is garbage at that price.

Listen to the two guys ahead of me, they know their ****. Dean Dimebags are the lame.

As stated before, split the money between guitar and amp.

If Dean had realized Dimebag's death would have been so profitable I'm sure they would have assassinated him a lot earlier than he was murdered.

Excellent, my specialty.

As others have stated, it would be best to split the budget for the amp and the axe. 1k CAD for the axe, and 1k CAD for the amp.

For your tastes, I heavily suggest you look into any Jackson/Ibanez/ESP with a Mahogany body with decent stock pickups. My personal recommendation is the Jackson SLSMG, which retails for $1,050 USD. I managed to find an amazing deal for mine for $450 USD from craigslist.

Amp wise, there's the Peavey 6505, but that's $1,200 USD.

Of course, go used if you can. You'll have a bigger value per dollar.
