play them and decide for yourself
ESP Ltd Viper 100FM w/ EMG 81 in bridge
Peavey 5150 combo

^that means he has to make both...?

i'd say a ruby for the first ones. there's a hiwatt mod too.

http://runoffgroove.com/ruby.html

Hiwatt
Ricky Vance (aka RDV) reports that using a 15n input cap and increasing the volume pot value to 50k will produce Pete Townshend tones when driven by a booster. Also, adding a .001uF treble bleed cap between lugs 3 and 2 of the pot will help retain high-end clarity at lower volumes. Finally, Ricky left pins 1 and 8 open for added headroom and added the output RC network as used in the Little Gem.

yeah but that site also has a pdf file, and the pcb there differs from the one in runoffgroove.

^^it is different PCB, but same circuit, same components. and runoffgroove uses a perfboard. not a PCB. imo, PCBs are easier to solder, but perfboards are easier to get a hold of.

it looks easy to do so will that be enough to drive the ruby?

ok so any of both diagrams will have the same results....

about the tube cricket... is kinda off my skill limits... ill practice with the cricket and the ruby first

go for the cricket! its easy if you do it on a radioshack IC board, and i emailed the OLC guy and he said that all his projects have Printed Circuit Boards, and very clear directions, so the tube cricket wont be a problem after you get the hang of soldering and stuff

i thing i will try the cricket first... meanwhile i wait for the tube cricket
