I have been wondering this for the longest time. I am kind of interested in playing the harmonica to mess around with but theres one problem, i don't even know how harmonics work! For example, how do people play with no hands like Bob Dylan and Neil Young? If it is possible to play with out hands why do people like Robert Plant press down on those hole things? This is a n00b thread, i have no idea how a harmonica works. Inform me, UG

They have every key and every hole is a different note. I believe it goes up by half steps, but I could be wrong. I have one in C. It is a lot of fun.

You blow, the sound comes out one way, making a different sound then when you suck. When you suck the air squeezes through a bigger hole, making it sound lower. No hands are involved, unless you use it to do a vibrato ect.
