So I asked the guitarist of this band how to play one of his songs. And he sent the chords to me, now i've got it all figured out except for this one thing which I've never seen before. Mid 8. How do you play that?

The Middle 8, to my knowledge is a certain part like the "chorus" and "verse" within a song, not a chord.

I May be wrong though, but our vocalist uses that word a lot.

EDIT:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/soldonsong/guide/song_middle.shtml

A middle 8 is so called because it is a section in a song that tends to happen towards the middle of the song, and tends to be eight bars in length.

Go to that link, way more info there.

What's the big deal with Gibsons, anyway?
I've heard loads of Gibsons being played before
and they don't sound any more special than
any other guitar.

Theres no such chord as 'Mid 8' and mid or 8 isnt used in chord terminology so I don't even think its got anything to do with chords.

*chuckle* A peanut. With a face.

Go to your staff paper and re-write this song a half step down so on the paper it'll be like you have a "C" just move it down to a "B#"

Know your theory, then play like you don't.

I think you got screwed over by a guitarist who doesn't want you to learn the whole song, there is no specific way to figure out what a Mid8 is made of, the only thing you can do is try and figure it out by ear.

lol ye that is true.

My suggestion is tell the guitarist to stop douching around coz he seems hasty and I agree with above poster^

Just try and learn it as best as u can.

Naw Sete's a good guy i have a feeling based on the layout of things you're right about it not actually being a chord.
