Untitled

In my room, my sheets
caress naked legs as I lie
in languid fashion atop the
bed.

My gaze is lost, lacking
distance or direction, it’s
simply another feature of a
face debauched by boredom…

yet my gaze turns to vision
and my face regains interest
as my eyes cut across the ceiling.

I try to count the insects that litter
the monotonous white coloured
plaster, but I’m hindered by a blinding
light that obscures my sight. I’m impeded
by the fact that those God forsaken flies seem
to be constantly still whilst moving, as if they
were a half-step between a joy-ride and an odyssey

My dad is making noises similar
to a chainsaw connecting with wood
in the room upstairs. I can’t hear what
my mum is doing over all that racket. My
dog is whining, he must have woken from a
nightmare.

So my vision turns back
into a lost gaze, my face
stricken
with angst rather than boredom,
becomes still and inactive…
Again.

I haven’t had bad dreams for many years,
now they are a plague of lust and sexual
contempt.
It’s not such a sad though when I manage to bring
my minds around it. It even seems jolly because I know
that it’s me listening to my parents…
Not them, to me.

Two Views on Life and Death

I walked into a church that day to ask to save my soul
To learn the things they’ve handed down from generations old
I guess I hoped I’d find the code to break this life of mine
To free the need I knew was there to feel some peace of mind

A kindly man he sat me down and told me what he knew
Of people gone and visions seen, of hope that’s always true
I drank in all those stories told of a saviour in my past
I listened well for in this man I felt some peace at last

We spoke of this and all of that for quite some little time
And by the end I knew my life was never really mine
But more a loan to use a soul before infinity
My time a gift from Him to me to earn eternity

I stood to go, our talking done my saving journey signed
My path was set by this kind man to find my peace of mind
I stood to go but all I saw was coming through the door
The beggar there all clothed in rags and crawling on the floor

... (pause) ...

And the priest looked at me as the beggar said to him
“Hell is not where I’m going and it’s nowhere you’ve been
I believed your lies in those times I cried
That I’ve wasted life with no humble pride
But I see where I am and what have I got?
It’s your ‘Hell on Earth’ not a glorious plot
So I see through you and I see my strife
I can see where I’m going with this twist of a knife
I can see your demons and they’re yours not mine
So preach somewhere else your salvation divine.”

I can't believe you based your vote on something like that. Being the normal person I am, I still fail to take you seriously.

EDIT: And just incase you haven't noticed, there are other countries in the world appart from America. There is a thing called European English where we spell color "colour" meter "metre", so better get used to it Ted.

well... red was somewhat darker too and I liked the rhyme... mum wasn't the only reason...

I prefer red - I don't know why, personal preference I guess, but I liked the flow and I thought the 'story' it told was quite interesting. =]

didnt particularly like green, but red annoyed me, didnt like the flow or the rhyming and, it just annoyed me for some reason.
