So right now I have a bit over 500. With my birthday coming up soon

I currently have

Silvertone Rockit 21 (this guitar... goes for 150, came in a starter package, I wouldnt hate it if it didnt go out of tune ever 2 notes >_<

Roland Cube 15X

I've only been playing a few months. So right now I am looking into some new gear. I play mostly metallica (nothing heavier than this), rock, stuff like the whtie stripes and nirvana, led zep, blues on occasion, hard rock, it all varies. So I want a versatile guitar. And I am almost 99% set on getting this guitar.

Think its wise to upgrade the guitar first?

And after that.. any other suggestions? I was looking into a distortion pedal. Any good pedals that suit my style? Now I know metallica and white stripes are 2 different types of distortion <_<... but any good distortion pedals in general? But I do lean towards the heavy stuff, so... though the more versatile the better. I would kill for that digitech whammy pedal, but its just too expensive at the moment ._.

So once I do these two things... should I just stick with that set up? Or should I also be looking into an amp sometime during christmas?

Right now I think I just want a distortion pedal, as I am most likely going to order that guitar soon. But any suggestions are welcome

Don't buy (toneshaping) pedals if you have a crappy amp. It's just a waste of money.

You could put new tuners in your Silvertone and then spend your money on a new amp.

That Agile is very good for the price.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

If you have only been playing for a few months, maybe you shouldn't waste money on a new guitar. I waited a around 2 years after I started playing to get a new guitar, and i still have a ****ty starter amp >_<.

My advice, get amp and effects, then a new guitar

That guitar has a really low quality double locking trem and that amp is basically a practice amp but a little louder.

Not a big fan of either.

If dislike playing your guitar then I would fix the problems / get a new one. Likewise with your amp. Dont get a Digitech Whammy its a pitch shifter and harmonizer it wont change your tone and would use up about half your budget >.<

Good choice on the guitar.

I would choose an Electro Harmonix Metall Muff for the distortion pedal, don't let the name fool you, its actually quite versatile.

I was looking into the metal muff.

And regarding amps and all that... Im just a bedroom player, not much more than that. Dont plan on gigging or playing in a band anytime soon...

You still need a new amp more than a guitar...pedals will make jack-all difference.
