My friend and I play metal and I just bought a 6505+ head. I hear the 5150/6505 series cuts a lot throug the mix so I think it would be good for us to get the same type of amp. Anyway this http://cgi.ebay.com/Peavey-EVH-5150-2x12-combo-amplifier_W0QQitemZ230165362512QQihZ013QQcategoryZ38076QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

has 17 hours left and it is 425 (USD) and was wondering if my friend should buy it.

I wouldn't post the link... in case someone else wants it, lol.

It's fine if you get the same amp, just don't eq them to have the same tone, you'll want to scoop the mids lightly on one of them, so they don't mush together.

yeah thats a good deal, BUT...
the price is most likely gonna shoot way up towards the end when bids are flooding in from all over
it will most likely end up somewhere around at least $600

I would say a 5150 combo for anything less than $700 (shipped) is doable.

^Spending too much money on it would rather defy the purpose of this "good deal?" thread, wouldn't it.

Such a good deal that:
1. I'd be cautious
2. I wouldn't post a link to the auction on this forum.

edit: The auction seems legit. A seller who's honest about scuffs/photographs them, shows serial number, etc. is probably OK.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

It will definitely go up. I'm guessing at least 500-550.

But good luck, those aren't bad deals either.
