alright, so this picture of my guitar just confused the heck out of me.. http://cachepe.zzounds.com/media/quality,85/brand,zzounds/p36791h-234ef8dd6c1774de8d02d3e2044a24d0.jpg
focus towards the part slightly above the first fret, i might sound like a total idiot, but my guitar has these 3 circular "nut" like things over it, am i supposed to take that off?

Also, i have no clue how to change my strings with my jackson..i just broke my 1st string. My old guitars both had the little circles on the back that you weave the string through.

if it is like this with the floating bridge your in for a fun time, go to youbube and try to find a vid because that will be easier

Look at my ibanez and tell me if the bridge is the same so we cam be for shure

that picture didn't seem to have it, but your speaking of a 'locking nut' so your Trem doesn't put it out of tune. you need an allan key to take it off.

i'm about half way through..and he said something about trying to balance the strings, and not using thicker gauge strings unless you know what you're doing..i'm switching from .09's, to .011-.049's..gah..

its not that hard

use this

to unscrew

and here .

then the string comes off. get your new string and add it on. after you restring it check if there is a buzzing sound coming from your strings. if there is, ask me and i'll try to post a pic of fixing it later

my "locking nuts" are loose enough for me to unscrew with my fingers, is that bad?lol

if it doesn't cost too much i'm just gonna get the people at my local "skips"-california guitar chain to teach me to do it, that way if my larger gauge strings mess something up i can blame them

Heavier gauge strings WILL screw things up - your trem is balanced and depends on the tension of the springs in the back being equal to the tension of the strings. If you change string gauge otr even tuning the bridge will no longer be level and you'll also lose tuning stability. You need to re-balance the bridge if you change anything.
