im looking for a good mid-class combo amp and am thinking about the SWR WorkingPro 12 200W 1x12" Bass Combo Amp .. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/SWR-WorkingPro-12-200-Watt-1x12-Bass-Combo-Amp?sku=481993

does anyone know anything about that amp and is there any other amp in that price range that might be better? im planning on buying a Traben Array limited 5-string to use with it.
That SWR is a great choice. i like the features and the fact that it can tilt back. and the wattage should suffice as the SWR i played on was pretty loud and about the same wattage.

here's a secondary choice with 300 watts and a 4x10 but it doesn't tilt back. if you play lot of the bottom end mostly you might wanna go with the SWR because it has a 12 inch speaker but otherwise i'd consider this.

also if you give us a genre you play or what kind of sound you like we can help more.

EDIT: i looked closer at the ashdown and it says the frequency response is down to about 17Hz and that's well below the low E so it should be fine but i'm skeptical of that because i've never seen a 10" speaker with that kind of freq resp.

TheFitz could probably guide you a little better so lets hope he comes and answers this freq resp question.

i was also looking at the Ampeg BA115T 1X15 100W combo .. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ampeg-BA115T-1X15-100-Watt-Bass-Combo-Amp?sku=481724

but i like the fact that the SWR has an effects loop. only problem ive read about them is that some people say the electronics burn out on them. hopefully its not a reputation they have, because it also seems to have a rep for good sound.

as for styles, id play almost anything but sounds like these would be one of my highest interests ..

im also buying a Boss ODB-3 pedal

its safe to say ill be playing a lot in the bottom end
