ok so im looking for an amp that would satisfy bedroom/band practice and possibly small gigs. i was looking at a peavey valveking 112 but it might be too loud. id like a good tone for stuff like metallica, megadeth, acdc, thin lizzy, tool etc. im not too worried for money because ive been saving for awhile (i have around $2000 saved up) and i only have 1 pedal (digitech rp350) so im not sure which amp would sound best.

any suggestions? all help is appreciated

You could get a shitload better with $2000.

I'm English though so I don't exactly know whats worth $2000 over there.

I might recomend a nice Mesa boogie F30! Perfect volume and great sounding!

And plase no half stacks!

Try a Carvin V3, amazing amps. Or a 5150 would work too.

a 5150 isn't a great choice for his style. can do it, but it could be done better. that tired old cliche.. jcm800 would be a good choice. it would leave you money for a top notch cabinet and then some more for a hooker or something

i played a halfstack with what i believe was a JCM head in a guitar center and it sounded amazing but im pretty sure that would be too loud

ill check out a mesa boogie 30, i like the sound of mesa boogies

+1 to the F-30.

For $2000 though, I'd also recommend a Mark IV combo. Awesome amp, very versatile.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

As great as half stacks can be its not for him!! ^See!

^yeah I was gonna say that but I got confused with the english price and thought it would be out of he's price but you can get them for $1800 in great condition!

Well theres a few i would suggest.

Orange amps: considered Marshall-esque, good cleans, GREAT crunch.

Laney GH50L: great cleans, lead channel could certainly do what you want

Traynor: havent played any, but from what i've heard, great amps for the cash.

If you want to get really sick go to a nearby subway station and lick the walls or maybe a homeless man or two .

^ He's got two bloody grand for goodness sake, the Valveking is a budget amp.

Mark IV, F-30, JCM800, GH50L, Orange Rocker 30+OD, all are good choices, you have to choose for yourself. Try them out.

alright, i was just wondering, what are good websites to buy amps? guitarcenter and musiciansfriend dont carry mesa boogies, oranges or traynor and i dont particularly trust ebay

i think im gonna go with what storm bringer said, a jcm800 (if i can find one) and a nice cabinet
