Hello, i've recently started playing guitar and I bought an Ibanez Gio. For the first time i've changed my strings but I noticed something different after getting the new strings in and all tuned up. The tailpiece has been lifted quite high or higher than normal after I have tuned it. The new strings I bought are heavier than my old ones, would that be the cause of it lifting higher than normal or am I just doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure what size the other string were but the new ones i've put in are 0.28-1.32mm Blue Steel strings.

Those are gauge 11...if you play in standard tuning then in all honesty they're too heavy for a floyd-equipped guitar. You shouldn't go any higher than .10's, ideally you should use .09's as that's what the bridge is designed to work with.
