Im thinking of buying a roland cube 30x, I currently own a line 6 spider III, is it good for metal and does it take pedals well? Im the kind of person who doesnt like alots of noize and fuzz but a good metal distortion sound.

the cube would be great for you...

its silent when you're not playing and the r-fier amp model is terrific....

Cube 60 =]

I also have a 30, but the 60 has a whole bunch more grunt, much fuller tone.

It takes a distortion/overdrive pedal rather bad. But the on board modes are pretty good, so there's no need for any.

I have a microcube. It's not bad, it's just that it sounds boxy I guess. I'd rather have the 30X if I'm to have a modeling solid state amp anyway. I might save up for one of those, or an inexpensive tube amp. The tube amps do sound "better" but I like how the solid states have a headphone jack and other little goodies that aren't on the affordable tube amps out there. So I'm still debating.
