just a quick question that isn't answered in the manual

if i plug 2 4 ohm cabinets into both of the amp1 jacks(both the speakon and the 1/4") will it come to two ohms?

I know in the manual it says two 8ohm speakers equals 4 ohms and two 4 ohm speakers equals 2 ohms but i was wondering how you're supposed to hook them up.

here's a picture of the back.

looks to me like, say you have a 4x12 and a 1x15, youd plug the 1x15 into the Speaker 1 output, and the 4x12 into the Speaker 2

not sure about ohms though

That's a stereo amplifier, in which case if you plugged one cabinet into output one and the other into output 2 the ohms shouldn't interfere and both cabinets will receive the 400 watts it is rated for at 4 ohms.

If you plugged both cabinets into one of the speaker outputs, that would bring the resistance down to 2 ohms and the cabinets would receive the 600 watts that is stated at 2 ohms.

From the look if it you can also bi-amp that head so you have the high frequencies running through one cabinet (plugged into speaker output 2) and the lows running through the other(plugged into speaker output 1). If you are running it this way, generally you would have the cabinet with the bigger speaker/s receiving the low frequencies and the cabinet with the smaller speakers taking the higher ones.

I hope that cleared it up a little, any questions just ask and I'll try and answer.

i know it's stereo and i will have a 1x18 in the low amp and a 4x10 in the high amp and they will both run at 4 ohms individually. i want to know how to add more speakers on top of that.

How do i plug both cabinets into one speaker output....i'd imagine it wouldn't be right to daisy chain them somehow or something like that.

Ok. Usually each cabinet will have 2 jacks on the back so you can run a cable from the head to the first cab, then a cable from the first cab to the second cab.

so that will make it to 2 ohms and 300 watts to each cab? thx much

and that's what i meant by daisy chaining kinda thing but it sounds simple then.

Keep in mind anything below 4ohms is potentially harmful to your amp.. i don't remember why it is exactly but the bass tech at my music store explained it to me a while ago.

unless the amp specifies that it can take two ohms...and this one says it can. it gets 400watts and 4 ohms and 600 watts at 2 ohms. but not all bass amps can work at two ohms.

a cab, short for cabinet, is just something that the speakers are held in, and have connections for an amp head to power the speakers. the 4x10 number means it has four ten inch (diameter) speakers.

this guy's got me thinking that i should build myself a 4x15 or maybe even a 4x18 cab at home....it'd be so heavy but man the low end would be astounding!
