Thoughts on these pups? How do they compare to EMGS?

Never tried them myself, but in the latest issue of Guitarist there's a short column on them and apparently they're pretty good. Says they give a less-compressed tone than the EMGs, but not much else, really. Not much help, I know, but hopefully it will give you a little bit of an idea (or not - I'm quite useless, really ).

From what i have heard they are very thick, less compressed than EMGs, more midrange. Alot of people are saying they are better oh and apparently they are very articulate and more saturated than EMGs as well

Cool, thanks.

Would they be more versatile than the EMGS?

Nope, they sound beyond piss-poor clean...SD haven't even attempted to hide that fact on the sound clips

Actives are designed with two things in mind - pushing the amp or providing a flat EQ response for effects. That being the case, they're always going to be less versatile than passives.
Actually called Mark!
