Yesterday I came home from town to discover ... A BT HOME HUB!

For those who aren't "in the know", it's the latest attempt from BT Internetz / phone to increase their profits. So, yeah, there we are.

So, I don't give it another thought. I sign onto UG, MySpace, the usual, and I get a message from Windows Live Messenger :

Fair enough, I thought, I'll try again in a few minutes.

So I try again, alas to no avail.
It keeps happening for an hour or so.
I think "this is wierd", as my Dad can get into MSN fine on his account (Windows XP account, that is).

Wierd. But I re-download Windows Live in an attempt to get it to work. Nope. Not working.

At this point, I ask the greatest mind I know about it.
UGs very own Tushmeister!
He says it may be a firewall problem.
I turn off my firewall.
Still jack sh*t.

And I think "fine I'll wait til tomorrow".

So I come down this morning, still not working.
Leave it.
Do some coursework, go out, come back. Try again, and nope, nothin'.

I do a search for anything with "messenger" in the title, and delete them all, then re-download MSN to a now Messenger free computer.

Nothing. Same message.

Any more brainwaves?
DAMN YOU BT HOME HUB! (problems started on my account when this was installed).

Holey moley, that's a long post.
Anyone who reads it all, I thank you.

You need 4 things:

1.

A hammer

2.

Petrol

3.

Lighter

4.

A new Router.

Take your hammer, smash the BT homehub to pieces, then douse the pieces in petrol and set it on fire.

Install and use your new router.

BThomehubs are sh*t.

If it has something to with a firewall, it could be a firewall on your router.

Sadly, Eli, that option is not available, as my loving father would then proceed to make me follow in the footsteps of this ... *ahem* wonderful new addition to our computer woes.

Well is your email supposed to have a chevron (< at the start?

It's only the second half of my MSN name, so it's not a chevron, it's half an X.

It's in a box somewhere (the home hub). Waste of space.

Aye. I use the "Voyager" instead. It's SO much smaller. The Homehub we had for about 5 seconds was all clunky and plastic-y as well. Piece of **** basically.

The adverts are good with the guy from My Family until they start plugging the stupid piece of oversized rubbish into next week. The adverts are the only redeeming feature sadly!

It was actually the first BT advert to not make me chuckle. Ominous, no ... ?
