Any suggestions?

Ibanez rg321. Its 280, but its actually a pretty nice guitar. Also, it comes in natural finish so if you want to change the paint, there is very minimal work.

a squier strat... plenty of of options when it comes to customization and ive seen them for as little as 70 bucks new, which imo is rediculous.

Just about anything that is 150 or less and isnt made of plywood or "agaths" is pretty solid for modding.

Ya, an RG that has an Edge III, as that trem switches out very easily with a popular good trem, can't remember which one though. Or an Agile of some sort, but after you get it you may find that you don't want to mod it because it's nice already!

You wont get an RG with an Edge 3 for under $300
