So let me explain my living situation me and my dad live with my friend and his parents. My friend can get away with ANYTHING. He drinks, smokes, clubs, averything and he's only 15. I went out with my dad today til about 2 then came home and my friend wasn't home which is fine he ussually isn't. at about 5 I hear his mom screaming at him loud. He Took her car out and has been driving about 5 or 6 people around most likely some of them drunk or high. He has no liscense or permit. I f he had been pulled over it would have been probably 1 or 2 grand in fines and we're all really broke.
but wait here's the best part...
He comes home and HE screams at HER about how it's the last day of summer and how he doesn't care about his life(because he's all emo) and I'm in my room laughing for about 20 minutes. Then I go out there bassicaly say you f'ed up and need to get your **** together. I told him he should stop whinning because he partied all summer, got laid multiple times, and did whatever he wanted pretty much. I worked half my summer in wyoming working for my grandparents, didn't get laid, and only went to a few parties but I'm not even complaining(honestly not). I told him that if he doesn't care about himself how is anybody else. The I left before either his mom or him said anything. I also said it respectfully and calmingly so that's probably why they just let me leave. For those of you wondering about his dad, he's insane and we keep him stoned 24/7 so he doesn't go on his 4 hour rants.
So here's my problem I no longer respect my friend and the only reason we're really friends anymore is because
1. We've been friends since kindergarden
2. We live together
3. We do have alot of fun together sometimes
Now his mom has been using me for the past 2 years as his parent because she works too much but he doesn't listen to ANYONE. He's an ungrateful bratty selfish scene bitch.
So I know this has been a long story but it bassically comes down to this
Should I bassicaly tell him he's got to pull his **** together or we can't be friends.
pros
1. He might do it
2. I won't have to deal with him anymore if he tells me to **** off
cons
1. I might have to move if he bitches to his mom about me(which he will)
2. I'll be losing probably my oldest friend
3. I won't be there to protect him and get rides and things for him when he's stranded.

Now he might mellow out at the start of school but he hates the school he's going too, which is by the way the best school he could have gotten into and desperatly worked to get into but only doesn't want to go because it has a dress code, but if he doesn't he might end up in the hospital or worse.

So I come to UG in my most desperate hour.

Well way the pros and cons of doing either.

If you confront him, he might turn around and not die in a car accident, or, you can leave it alone and beat yourself up because you could have saved him.

leave him be, and dont look after hi, it seems his parens dont either so hell **** himself up sooner or later and learn the hard way

well, as I see it, its his life, hes ****ing it up and hes obviously too dumb to notice and or care. His parents seem weak willed and unwilling to do too much to change his ways. im not sure how your dad is involved, but whatever. the best option is to confront him. even if he doesnt listen to you, he will probably respect your opinion most. if he does bitch to his mom, just reason with her, say you are trying to save her own sons ****ing life. if they kick you out for that...then find new friends.

LOL your posts meant nothing
right after I posted this I went out and told him I'd get him a drink at the store, he came with and I talk to him. By the time we got back the score was bassicaly this
HE had to shape up and he said he was gonna chill out after school starts. I told him I wasn't gonna be his friend if he kept being such a prick. I told him that just because he got away with everything with his mom didn't mean cops are so forgiving.
So if he keeps being a **** we're not friends.

So I lived with my mom in pheonix AZ till I was about 5 then moved out here to california with her so I could spend some more time with the rest off my family. I live pretty much with my dad. We move around from apartment to apartment for awhile then he gets arrested for theft(not huge but it was a third strike) he has to live under house arrest with my uncle for a few years and my moms always been flakey so I have to move in with my grandma who I liked until I found out she was an abbusive BITCH who tore my little bit of self esteem to shreds and made me miserable. My dad's house arrest ends but we find out my grandpa has alzeimers(don't know how to spell it) and needs daily care and since my dad isn't working he does it. She puts us up in this crappy little room where we share a bunk for like three years and it gets so hellish my friends mom, who I was bassicaly spending every day at this house anyway to escape from, offers to let us live with her and my friend. She promises my dad the couch and me a room... which she tried for 6 months to take away from me and I couldn't even be in for most of the day because she used it as her office. But bassicaly that's the story without all the details of why I live here.

Like females (corporate, in this scenario) would even go for that, they'd just all go lesbian.

Bassicaly my mom moved away for like a year and a 1/2 and when she came back she had to get her life together so I had to stay with my grandma. And my dad wasn't working when he got off house arrest because he quit. He works NOW though
two jobs a day actually.

help him dude his life is going down the drain

ok, so he's partying a lot and he's a little young but I definitely know kids that did that stuff and didn't turn out to be horrible.

make sure he understands how to do it responsibly. for most people partying a lot is just a thing they do when they can or when they're just having fun and it doesn't ever really become a big problem. for some people it can be the start of a downward spiral but lecturing him that sobriety and abstinence are the only way to not be a failure is going to fail, it will just fall on deaf ears. make sure he knows that partying is okay but he needs to be responsible, safe, smart (as in, not getting arrested) and he needs to be able to do those things in moderation.

and tell him that if you ever hear that he's done anything except drinking, tobacco, and the occasional weed, you'll beat his ass.

in the meantime, try smoking with him, i bet you two would bond... and if you're smart enough to do it responsibly it might set a good example for him.

haha

weed is a social drug, and it's usually pretty harmless. people tend to overreact, especially those who have never even done it.

You're not his Mom. You're not his Dad. You're not his Brother.

You are a GUEST in his Mom's house.

Yet you feel you have the right to get in the middle of his family business????

Pfft! YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS. You are a terrible guest. Were it me, I would have insisted my mom throw your ass out for that. Your Dad might stay or not, depending on the way he acts, but you have no respect for family.

Justify it anyway you want about his behaviour. But the fact you can't get around is that you have NO BUSINESS meddling in that family's business between mother and son. Regardless of who's right and who's wrong, stay out of it and speak when spoken to, on those matters.

If you don't like it, just leave quietly and get your own damned place and stop being such a drama queen.

Besides, as much **** as Aaron talks, he always folds. So either you can kick his ass and **** up oh-so many things (however tempting it may be), or you can wait about 10 seconds for the next guy to come along and do it for you. Either way, you're happy in the end.

You obviously must have been high when you wrote that.

I never said you should leave him ignorant. I said you shouldn't meddle. There's HUGE difference junior. TIME FOR SOME SCHOOL. When you come down off your buzz, read the following:

Your friend is your friend. Nothing more, nothing less. If you are a friend to him, you tell him what you THINK is wrong about what he says or does. Fair game, and beneficial when needed.

You DO NOT do this in front of anyone else, ESPECIALLY when he's in the midst of a dispute with a member of HIS family. That would just be fucking RUDE. You serve NO purpose by getting in the middle of things that way, except to make him look bad, and make him try even harder to defend his wrong actions. Or lose his temper and make things worse. Some "brother" you are!

If you truly want to help him, you say these things to him when you two are alone, in a PRIVATE conversation. You can serve as a mirror for him, so he can know how he looks to others, but unless you're doing this to HELP him, STFU, and stop acting like a pissy little bitch. It looks bad enough on a girl, it's just pathetic on a guy.

Yeah, life dealt you a shitty hand. My condolences on that part. But don't make it worse by thinking that these people owe you ANYTHING. It means nothing that his mom promised you room. You have a roof over your head that she doesn't have to give you. Be grateful. Help the situation, stop hurting it with your meddling.

"Don't preach to me because it never happened to you."

Maybe not exactly your situation, but I'd been in dire straights, that you have no concept of. At one point, I had enough gas in the car to get me back and forth to work, and $3.10 in my pocket. I had to go 5 days until payday, and the only thing left to eat in the apartment an apple, a few scrapings of peanut butter left in the jar, and handful of green beans. I know what it's like to go hungry in an unfamiliar town. My best friend and room-mate was on the road with his band. I had no one to rely on, but myself. If you'd ever been in a situation like that, you'd know to shut up, and do the best you can, with what you have to work with. But obviously, you haven't because you think the world owes you something. Guess what! It doesn't.

... and knock it off with the Mafia references.
I don't wanna have to tell uncle Guido about this conversation.
