One of the under-rated bands IMO. Except for like their super popular songs (ie. Free Bird/Sweet Home Alabama).

I do agree though.. amazing band.

It annoys me how all of my friends have heard Sweet Home Alabama, but give me a blank look if I mention Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Amazing band.

South of Heaven = Current favourite song.
#8
South of Heaven may be my least favorite of their songs. And they are my favorite group.

I really like some of Ronnie's earlier writings...stuff like Michelle, Hide Your Face, and Lend a Helpin' Hand are just really cool I think.

Johnny Van Zant's alright, but he's no Ronnie.

I saw them with Hank, and they were great.
#9
I would have to say that "Call Me the Breeze" is my favorite song. I saw them last year with 3 Doors Down and Shooter Jennings and they were awesome. You should definately go see them.

Lynyrd Skynyrd rocks. I'm hoping I'll get to see them some day, until then I'll just listen to their songs. Free Bird on Guitar Hero rocks!

The Ballad of Curtis Lowe is probably my favorite song by them, the lead guitar work is amazing. By the way, their concert was amazing, I've been to two of them. They have an awesome setlist as well.

Hey, um, could we please stop typing in ridiculously long run-on sentences. I would love to post in this thread, but I cannot understand a single topic someone is trying to get across. Jac, are you the only literate?

Yeah, I figured skynyrd would have its own by now.

Well I'd like to know who everyone says is their favorite member from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Mine's deffinately Ronnie Van Zant, but I can't help but have a soft spot for Allen Collins. That dude put on a show.
#33
This is my favorite southern rock band. You can put on one of their albums and listen to it all day.

My favorite member would be Leon Wilkeson. Ever since I started playing bass, I've been paying close attention to how he plays. My favorite member of the current band would be Rickey Medlocke...I'm a huge fan of Blackfoot.

Billy Powell... and yes he is amazing.
Please don't confront me with my failures. I had not forgotten them.

Of their newer stuff, I like Preacher Man and Lucky Man. Their music has always been about down-to-earth stuff that the average person can relate to.

YOU don't have to be from the south to apreciate SKYNYRD ,,but it sure helps when you are..show a little respect....
