I am a decent guitarist, but I need some help. I don't improv well. It's as simple as that. I also need to work on my speed to play better runs.If I listen to a song I know what would fit in a certain area, but when I try to play it ... Well you get the idea

I do know basic theory like scales and stuff. I just can't seem to get anything to sound good in my mind.

well first of all, observe people use modes and scales in their playing

try and put it in your own playing
