My $50 Strat I got from some local shop is finally dying (after a good year). I know nothing about guitars, just how to play them. So I have two questions.

1) How do I stop the cutting out?

2) What good guitar can I get for under $300?

While I'm playing it will just go out, nothing happens if I change pick-ups but if I move the volume theres a little snow as I move it.

Any input would be appreciated.
I bet your pickups are accidently being grounded, or the switch is faulty. All I know is your pot is dirty, and something is wrong before the pot.

You can get alot of good guitars for under $300 as long as you go used.

Good for you. Have a cookie.

But really... there's no cookie. And if there was, you wouldn't get one.
