I'm going to pick up a new overdrive pedal and it's down to either the Ibanez TS808/9, so I was wondering what would suit my needs more? I'm more of a metal player so I'm looking for a pedal that'll help clean up my sound for solo's. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply , for the extra money are Maxon's more worth it? I've heard they're very similar but Maxon has a slight lead over the Ibanez.

I've heard that the Fulltone OCD is the best of the best in od pedals. You might want to take a look at it.

playing by yourself is like masturbating, sure it feels great, but it's nothing compared to the real deal.

For your XXX, get a clean boost pedal. theres no need to stack any other distortion before it.

my suggestions:
BBE Boosta Grande
MXR Micro Amp

^ listen to him!

but if you want an OD then the maxons are true bypass and so is the OCD if your a tone *****! but a clean boost might work better because the XXX has tons of gain

Clean boost would get your tubes to work harder, without stacking more overdrive on top of overdrive. you know what it'd sound like when u stack overdrive on top of a distorted signal? bunch of fuzz mud. seriously. clean boost would be another one of your preamp volume knobs that you have. gain, pre-volume, same stuff. same as the Clean booster's knob. definitely worth a try.

well jsut try out a clean booster next to an OD on your amp then see.

^ i layer a touch of OD over the gain channel of my amp. not very muddy at all.

^i guess ur lucky. my DSL doesn't let me. its just Fuzz-Mud. if you only add "slight touch" of OD, then it would work. but for him, why not just get a clean booster? it gives more volume boost, so the preamp would produce a more natural, tube overdrive.
