I got into my school's jazz band and I told my parents that it would be nice if I had a second guitar to leave for practicing at school and one for practice at home. My dad said something like he'd get me what I want but I really doubt that >_>. So my question is, what would give a good jazz tone? Something under 700 dollars please :P And I've been looking at gibson SG's but I haven't played one yet...

do you like your current guitar? why not leave that one at school and get an even better one for home that works for the music you like to play

Ibaneze AGS. Its built for "high volume jazz" but its also good for other applications as well.

I currently have an ESP LTD (model is MH-100QMNT google image search for a pic of it), it's made for metal I think lol, which I don't normally play a lot of. I like my guitar but I think if I got a better guitar for jazz band it would sound nicer than a guitar made for metal :P
I don't think I've ever played a different electric guitar before though so I can't say what I want yet. I'm just open for suggestions at the moment.
