its an object that makes clicking sounds in time
like "click"pause"click"pause"click"
this lets you play your guitar in time with the song
there real cheap, bout the same price as a decent tuner
pick one up, use it nonstop, itll improve your timing sooo much

What is a metronome?
a device that counts time based on beats per minute (bpm). most click to each beat, more advanced ones (that cost all of $30) can subdivide the beat into 8ths, 16ths, shuffle feel, triplets, etc.

how to use them?
exercises you have - practice them in time with the metronome. scales, modes, arpeggios, runs, licks, everything.

where am i going to use it?
at home while you practice.

what help it can give to me?
better timing and a more effective way to gain speed by starting (note keyword here) SLOWLY and working fast licks/runs/whatever up.

what its relationship with guitar playing?
everything is rhythm and timing. be good at it.

Its extremely important! Like they said^ it keeps time for you in bpm (beats per minute) so that you keep the same pace throughout your playing. When you use it in your practice, you force yourself to be consistent in your playing (not slowing down on the hard parts), which forces you to get the song down before attempting to play it fast. A metronome is also a necessity when practicing speed picking and speed techniques, as you have to get accuracy before speed will come. you start out slow and then increase your pace. I just got a new metronome yesterday for $15. You definitely should buy one. Hope that helps!

just to give you a final heads-up, practicing with a metronome can become boring. keep doing it. if you have access to some simple drum loops, you can use those too. just make sure they're recorded by a pro and not johnny down the street.
