What's the deal with them? Tab books and guitar mags are full of them. Take the tab of Hendrix's cover of "Hey Joe". The tab for the verse parts are ridiculous! I don't really understand why anyone would sit down and try to play tabs like that note for note. Or how complicated they make rhythms, like tieing a doted 8th note to a 16th note Why not just make it a quarter note? Anyone feel the same way?

I do it but thats to slide out and stuff. sometimes for 16th note span vibratos instead of the full quarter ect.

They tie an dotted 8th note to a 16th note because it helps show clearly where the beat starts.

Unless it was right at the start of the beat, in which case :

thats just how music is written, so you can learn it without actually hearing it.
