i have been messing around with this head for the first time and i cant get a decent clean sound, it has 2 volume controls on each side and i have to alternate between the 2 to get a decent sound but as soon as i use distrtion the distortion is too distorrted and feedbacks like crazy.

has anyone else had this and if so how do you fix it?

#2
The reason you can't get a decent sound out of it is because it's an MG

Widely believed to be one of the worst amps for sale (ever?).
#3
Turn the clean channel's gain down, and volume up.

And yea, you just made a stupid purchase. Why pay that much for an SS half stack?

You work at a studio and you can't even talk shop right? What do you do, mop the floors?

no i work at the desk

By the way, it's the HEADS that are the MAIN problem. Sure, crappy cabs don't help, but it's the head that are killing 3/4 of your tone. Just to make that clear for your 2nd post.
#11
Well, you can only get alrightish sounds from those amps, so don't expect anything spectacular. And next purchase the studio makes, get a valve combo lol

its hard because we only get money from charities, the council and the lottery so it makes it hard to buy decent stuff
#17
No, for the same price as getting them halfstacks, you could have got a great sounding valve combo. Learn that for next time man.

Also, you could probably get a grant from the Council if you told them a good studio would benefit the local community, etc. Then you could have some decent stuff for people to use (and chavs destroy.)!
#19
yeah ill suggest it to the sorta boss guy who decides where the money goes we just bought a new desk (well 2nd hand) so we wont have money for a while
#20
I love the fact a recording studio bought a 2nd desk rather than an amp!

'Hey, John. Our desk is pretty naff...'

'Yeah, we need something a bit more...deskey.'
#22
"How about this chair?"

"No, needs to be a bit bigger, and flatter, desk-like as some might say"

Tbh, the MG and Spider would make better desks.

And the desk would sound better to plug into.

Yeah, you would get a br00Talz sound out of it.

Or..Something.

You know I think we should get back on topic..

I'd be more mellow and woody, and hollow sounding.

Just make sure you get better amps next time you've got money, instead of a doormat or something.
