I have just joined a band and I need a louder amp for when we play shows. Is a vox valvetronix half stack good enough for this? I play a wide variety of music so I do like modeling amps and it may seem lazy but tube amps sound like a lot of work(i have never used one before).

tube amps are NOT a lot of work. what styles to you range from?

the vox halfstack isn't going to deliver very well, since it's just a bigger practice amp.

I play rock and I use everything from cleans to heavy metal distortion I can get distortion from a pedal but I NEED an amp that has good cleans. How are the peavey windsors?

Peaavey Windsors are good, I love them. Not for you though.

Vox needs to release a tube AD just like Line 6 is doing with their Spider.

Good for you. Have a cookie.

But really... there's no cookie. And if there was, you wouldn't get one.

the peavey windsor literally has no cleans. i didn't believe it myself til i tried one. they can get pretty heavy, but roll back on the volume as much as you want, and it'll still be a little gritty.

budget?

I'd have to say differently. My friend owns the 120 Valvetronix, after hearing it through my other friend's cab he ended up getting a Tone Tubby cab for it and it sounds great. He uses it to gig with 3 bands too.

Thats a load of ****. I played a medium sized outdoor gig with my buddys(durmmer at the gig)
valtronixs and it had just enough output with 1x12. A halfstack will work just fine.

And as a side note, the valvetronix arnt full tube amps either.

The Valvetronix is somewhat tube(hybrid) and if you want tube, just buy an AC instead.
