If Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix etc. never took drugs do you think they would have still made good music? Also how does drug exactly help you play better? I might understand that LSD will give you more creativity, but how the hell does cocaine and heroin help Jimmy Page play better?

They made him play worse dip****. Page was fine before he got into hard drugs.

To answer your question, no, there are a huge number of amazing musicians who aren't drug users, Iron Maiden don't even drink. Maybe weed or shrooms will make it a bit easier to write, but hard drugs do nothing but **** you up.

It doesn't. Just because they happen to have taken it doesn't give them any more skill.

Prolonged use will mess you up but I guess the adrenaline created by some drugs might help on stage.

Drugs will not make a bad guitarist a good guitarist.

Some drugs can (not necessarily will) help the artist get into a highly creative mental state, but they have to have the skills and ability to interpret their inspiration onto their instrument already.

There's an ex-drug users balanced (well, I like to think so) point of view.

Yes. And cocaine. All of Zep did cocaine at some point.

LSD or acid, make you see things in brighter colours
your senses improve. Not only sight, but also hearing improves. I think it improves your musical ear and hearing skills, making the music better.

None of them have taken groupies or any kind of drugs or alcohol since the '90s, Bruce said so on stage at a show I went to.

Perhaps there music would definitely be different. However I believe that a composer's music does not need drugs to be creative. To me, drugs are to composing like steroids are to baseball.

I'm pretty sure Hendrix and the Beatles would not be the legends they were if they didn't use drugs.

And you are probably correct, however drugs are still not a necessity for creativity and innovation. It is believed that Beethoven once stated that he did not want to take painkillers because he wanted to keep a clean mind for his composing, and there is no debate that he was innovative.

Agreed, there definitely are a lot of musicians who probably don't use any form of mind-altering substances yet still maintain a powerful level of creativity. But to some musicians it can be a powerful tool to aid them whereas to others, it's no help whatsoever.

It's been scientifically proven. Maybe if you weren't such a close-minded idiot with his head in the sand and actually did your own research before spitting out stupid false statements you'd have known that.
