I need help with understanding key bc im beginning to lrn solos so if u srtr a riff with a A note on the 6th string it would be in A for the solo?? plzzz help

Check what scale the riff is in.

Figuring out the key is pretty easy.. Just play a bit of whatever scale you intend on soloing with and move it up and the fretboard 1 fret at a time until it sounds right.

Only got 12 possibilities so it will take less than 2 minutes to figure out what key it's in..

That's how I do it anyway.

well ur gonna need some idea of the notes on the fret board on the low e string (f, f#, g, g#, a, a#, b, c, c#, d, d#, e), then if it say its in the key of d# major, you would use the major scale on the 11 fret.

Srsly (seriously). its not that hard. if you know the rest of the song. check out the last note of the solo. Also, check out the last chord of the song, if it has any.
