Think this is in the correct section. sorry if it isnt.

But anyways...

I was wondering could anyone give me any ideas of some chords that sound nice together? Ive tried to take some out of songs and rearrange them and stuff but it always sounds stupid or too much like the song.

Thanks

You need to learn about key structures, thats the long answer to your question.

The quick answer is that some songs contain the exact same chords as other songs (sometimes in the exact same order) but sound completely different. Writing a song/chord progression is about finding your own voice, and if it sounds stupid then keep trying.

Try looking at different progressions, a I - IV - V - I for example. Look at different voicings of the chords as well.

Go to your staff paper and re-write this song a half step down so on the paper it'll be like you have a "C" just move it down to a "B#"

Know your theory, then play like you don't.

I ii iii IV V vi vii* VIII is your friend
Know that 7ths chords while quite fun commonly do not work well in songs unless purposely making disonance.
