For all of those with locking trems, when restringing, instead of cutting the end ball of the new string, just thread it through the tuning pegs and just cut once at the trem?
like this:

I did it one time, but I just found it easier to cut the ball ends off :/

The Ball end screws up the way it wraps around the peg. It always comes out crooked for me.

If you've got some good quality tuning heads I dont see why pitting would be a problwm in the short term, but having said that I reckon in someway or another it'll cause damage eventually
