ok i've had this guitar for two years and i just recently started playing it again because i only play my american strat lately. anyways i was promptly reminded that whenever i try and change the volume there's slight static then when i stop moving the knob its quiet again.

its a les paul body style so should i just take that small back peice off and spray the wires with a degreaser or something?

thanks!

every single elec. ive played on has been like that too. must be a cheap volume knob or something.

the tone pot (knob) is dirty or needs to be replaced.

pot cleaner with lube sometimes works. swapping out the pot always works.

dont just spray degreaser into ur control cavity.

beaten to it. sounds like the pot has gotten scratchy, probably a better idea to just replace it to be honest

That's what I said....$10, which is more than $5
