I am needing to play a pentatonic solo over the chords D/A/C/G...would the root of the pentatonic be the D, meaning I should play in the form of the scale starting with 10th fret E string to 13th E string to 10th D to 12th D etc? Help me out here...thanks

well that chord progression is in the key of D, so you should definately you the D pentatonic scale.

Are all the chords you listed Major chords? Be more specific on what chords they are.

A fifth is neither major nor minor, so it's hard to know what key that should be in. I'm guessing one or two of those fifths would extend into a minor rather than a major. Try playing the fifths extended as major or minor and see which version still fits with the song. Then you can use them as fifths again, but you'll know what the key is. If that makes sense.
