hey im fairly new to the forums, been a fan of the site for years, and a guitar player for 5 years. but im just curious if anyone knows of any Drum Beat program or where i can find good mp3s of everything from blues to heavy metal. preferably free. i would get a digitech rp50 thats has the feature but i am short on funds at the moment and have even more reason to play because of it. any response is appreciated thanks

i dont know of any really cool free ones, i just use the overly simplistic HammerHead drum machine on my computer... i use it mostly as a metronome, actually. ive seen some really cool drum machine programs, but theyre costly...

Take a look at Hydrogen: http://www.hydrogen-music.org/

EDIT: It says on the intro page that it's for Linux, but there are binaries for Windows and OSX available for download as well.

hydrogen is pretty cool, i messed around with it in linux (or knoppix, i cant remember). it took a while to figure out how to get it working, though... i didnt know there was a windows version.

i just downloaded Beatcraft... dont know if its still around though. i just use it mostly as a metronome. sometimes ill add the odd blast beat just to hear how a riff i wrote goes with a certain beat.
