Neither, although with the cool guy there is kinda room for improvement on his instrument, whereas the douchebag is probably always gonna be a douchebag.

a person can always get better at guitar, whereas you can't change someones personality

There's no point in having someone in a band if they're crap. You can hang out with them some other time. And even if you are their friend, you'll get so angry at them not being able to play that they might as well not be.

But really, neither. There's plenty of good musicians with good personalities. Why not get one of them?

Dude its a ****ing music band not marriage
i choose the good musician regardless of his personality
unless im in a boys band where we're all "friends" and whatnot bull****

I'd hate to be stuck with some arrogant prick who's all about himself and how good he is. A band isn't about one person. It's about how you work together.

I've got a crappy personality anyway, I might as well make money.

The power to feel with others give.

Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing.

Originally I though "definitely the nice guy/crap musician" then I thought of all the musicians I know with a "bad" personality and realised they are all really nice guys once I got to know them.

...but there is no way that you could tour, or even write music, with someone that you don't get along with.

If someone is a crap musician it's probably because they have no natural talent and it's highly unlikely that they'll become a great musician, ever. I don't think you could have a successful band with either of those so personally I would avoid both.
