Can someone please explain to me the differences in sound between the Marshall JCM 800, 900 and 2000.

Cheers.

800 = 80's rock/metal
900 = 90's rock/metal
2000 = 2000's rock/metal

Overgeneralization, but should be pretty true

If I'm not mistaken the higher the number the more recent the line, I assume this because the JCM 2000s came out arround 2000 and the others are in the vintage section on the site.

800=the classic Marshall roar. their best amp IMO
900=dual channel, way more gain
2000= kind of an updated version, replicating the true marshall tone

For the best tingle, use Original Source mint. That shit feels amazing on your balls.

The higher the version, the more gain and options. ANd yes, the JCM 800 has the classic tone and from there it gets more modern in sound. But it all depends on what sound you are looking for.

800-think acdc, used by early metallers/ hard rockers
900-created for the thrashers and shredders, high gain
2000's- god knows who they're created for because i think they suck i think theyre SS/tube hybrid aswell however correct me if im wrong.
Gibson SG (Heavily modded)
Fender USA Strat
Hohner 12 String-uber rare

Fender Silverface Twin

EHX Big Muff
Digitech badmonkey overdrive
Boss DS-1
Blackstar Distortion X
Dunlop Crybaby
Ibanez Delay
Digitech Whammy

JCM2000s aren't hybrid...

2000s were kinda made to do it all, but honestly, I don't like them and think they fail at life.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

haha, +1

The two 900s I've played were really the only Marshall I've ever liked.
