I have no idea what this is called. String Skipping maybe?
Does anyone know of any good tips for working on it?
(I know practice makes perfect but pointers are always nice)

Im working on this lick specifically from "Welcome to BucketHead Land"

--------------------------
--------------------------
--7-6-4-------------------
--------7-5-4-------------
--------------7-5-4-------
--------------------7-5-3-

Thanks for your time!

String Skipping? I see no strings skipped? ?

String skipping would be:

---------------------------
---------------------------
---------------------------
---7-----7-----7-8-----7-8-
---------------------------
-----0-0---0-0-----7-7-----

I think that of which you posted would be alternate picking?

i dont see any "string skipping" in this. to be honest with you i dont know how the song goes, i just played it like a little solo run down. if its like that you could play it legato. i really dont know what else to say

Ah, okay so it's not string skipping.
But would this be a lick thats picked throughout or hammered on/ pulled off?

do what you do for everything on guitar. PRACTICE

also you can do it like a bar chord octave and lave your finger across the middle string, but that makes it sound crappy.

just practice ALOT!

What?? I think you are mistaken...

Anyway, It is alternate picked. Practice it without barring at all, and start slow. use a metronome if you want to improve fast.

That is just a descending scale...ummm I think it's a G Mode...I'm tired but flatted sixth...I don't remember the mode damn.

Meh. For that lick, all it is is pull offs. 1st finger snachored on the 4th fret, 4th finger on 7th fret, and use your other two fingers to pull off every note in between. Just take it slowly and dont get frustrated if you cant do it perfectly
