yes yes...another one of those "is this a good guitar for this type of music?" I still havent been able to go to a guitar center...I was looking at the sgs and noticed that they are much cheaper than the les paul standards..so are they good guitars? do they do lead good? rock and punk..?

Yes, they are great for punk and rock and anything really.

Many guitars would be though, but SG's are the best.

Yeah, the SG is perfect. Look used, since I think they're overpriced new. I got my standard for $600. Don't spend more than $800 on a Standard, imo.

You can do almost any rock or blues with an SG. The only thing I would not recommend it for is Jazz, and I could be wrong. Of course there are some songs that require a Strat, but it will do those ok. Great, fast neck but not overly thin. Fairly powerful pickups capable of overdriving a tube amp very nicely. Not quite the midrange howl of a LP but piercing treble register if needed. Light and comfortable, though some complain of neck heaviness (neck dive.) Doesn't bother me.
