So, Starting my first guitar lesson today at school... Apparantly what happens first is the teachre will assess how good/bad I am and hten put me in a group. A friend informed me he'll test me on Chords, which I was dopey enough not to realise...

ANYWAY...

Anybody tell me some basic chords? (Already been in lessons, there's too many. D=)

just tell the teacher the truth you will probably learn alot more from the people in your class starting out.

theres five basic cords: E, A, D, G, and C, all other chords are based of these
E A D G C
-x 0 2 3 x
-x 2 3 0 1
-1 2 2 0 0
-2 2 0 0 2
-2 0 x 2 3
-0 x x 3 x

(x = do not play )
if you want to learn more about how they are built and what the augmentations of these are i would recommend Fretboard Logic by Bill Edwards, it helped me out buttloads, neways gl man

g 0 0 2
b 0 3

those are three good starting chords and they all go together and you could probably write alot of simple songs with them
