Ah yes, you say the last five years have sucked and then quote mainstream bands. You've obviously really been looking hard for good music since the millenium, haven't you

Every month I seem to find a new favourite album, you just have to look for it.

Arctic Monkeys are a good modern band.... ONLY JOKING!

Seriously check out Devendra Banhart, he's like the lovechild of Marc Bolan and Buddha. Get the albums Nino Rojo, Cripple Crow and Rejoicing in the Hands (And his new ones out soon, yay!)

The Blackening is a modern classic, a Master of Puppets of our time I think, so yeah, definently that one.

Haven't really heard anything revolutionary lately I think. Dissection released their last album ever, Reinkaos, so if you're into melodic death/black metal I'd check that album out.

Machine Head- The Blackening
Iron Maiden- A Matter of Life and Death
Mastodon- Blood Mountain
Muse- Absolution

Woo! A fan! I haven't checked that out yet.

For Indie, try: 'Costello Music' by The Fratellis; 'Razorlight' by Razorlight; 'The Back Room' by The Editors.

For Rock and Metal, try: 'One Day Remains' by Alter Bridge; 'Lateralus' by Tool; 'Ithyphallic' by Nile. (If you dare)

Their first one (Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation) completely blows that one out of the water. It is so much better and much less generic and boring IMO.

Bands I recommend: Brand New and Rise Against. For both bands, their latest two albums are some of the best albums that I've ever had the pleasure of listening to...

No. Everybody dies. And one day, given that your relationship doesn't crash and burn like so many do, one of you will end up deep in sorrow while watching the other one die.
