Now its a n00b guitar, But I think with a few upgrades it could be pretty decent. What do you think?

You mean the Ibanez GRX 40? It was one of my first guitars, it was fine for me.

i used them as a back up one time and its not tht bad

I can vouch that Gio series Ibanez's are great with some tinkering. I put in some handwired pups in mine along with a few other adjustments and it souds amazing. I used it to gig all the time.
